Werner Berger was born in Switzerland in the picturesque town of Werdenberg. He started his culinary career in Rapperswil and graduated at the hotel school in St. Gallen in 1964. After a few jobs around Switzerland, he spent the next 5 years in Holland, Sweden and Norway. In 1970 he joined the Oberoi Hotel in Singapore as Executive Sous Chef. In the following years, he held Executive Chef positions at The Peninsula Hotel Hongkong and The Hyatt Hotel in Teheran along the Caspian Sea before moving to the Regent Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. In 1977 Werner Berger moved to Manila as Executive Chef of the Philippine Airlines until 1984 when he decided to put up what is now Euro-Swiss Food Inc. together with some partners. In 1987, Werdenberg Intl. Corp. of which he is President and Santis Delicatessen opened for business.

Othmar Frei is our General Manager for the Werdenberg Group of Companies. Having joined the company in its early years, he is among the pioneers of the business. Othmar is responsible for making sure that Werdenberg is able to maintain consistency in product quality, service and pricing policy. He attended a culinary school for chefs in Switzerland. Being a chef by profession, he has had international working experience in various hotels & restaurants in Switzerland, South Africa, Puerto Rico and New York before moving to the Philippines.

HUBERT WEBER
Production Manager
Euro-Swiss Food Inc.

Hubert Weber is our Production Manager for Euro-Swiss Food Inc.. He is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of the manufacturing plant. He develops recipes for sausages, hams and other specialities.In the recent years, he has also been assigned the post as Operations Manager for the Santis Deli chain. Hubert, who finished apprenticeship as a Butcher Type A in Switzerland, has had working experiences in Switzerland and North Africa before deciding to settle in the Philippines.

JEAN-CHRISTOPHE CHAVANON

Jean-Christophe Chavanon or “J.C.” is Consultant for Werdenberg and Euro-Swiss companies since 1988. As Consultant, he is in charge of developing our markets for Werdenberg and Euro-Swiss products in Southern Philippines and in Manila. J.C. has played a vital role in improving our sales in the south most especially in Cebu and Davao cities where he also oversees the operation of our satellite offices. J.C. was the former Operations Manager of Werdenberg from 1992 to 1997. He attended a Hotel Management school in Switzerland (Centre Intl. de Glion, Montreux) after which he worked in Hotel Food & Bev. Depts. in Switzerland, Paris, Middle East & the Philippines.

LORELEI ANN REYES
Marketing Manager

Lorelei Ann Reyes or “Mimi” is the Marketing Manager and Wine Consultant for the Werdenberg Group of Companies. She is also responsible for the special events & P.R. activities of the company. She joined us in December 1989 after her 2-year stint in the outbound division of The Baron Travel Corp.. Having handled both Wine & Equipment sales during her early years with the company, Mimi has specialized in Wines from 1994 onwards. As head of the wine department, she has travelled to several wine-producing countries. Her background is Tourism Management taken at the University of the Philippines.

BRENDA SABENIT
Chief Accountant
Werdenberg Group of Companies

Brenda Sabenit is the Chief Accountant of the Werdenberg Group of Companies. She joined us in November 1986 and is therefore also one of the pioneers in Werdenberg. Through her hard work and dedication to the company, Brenda worked her way up to the position of Chief Accountant. She finished Bachelor of Accountancy at the Polytechnic University of the Phil. and is a Certified Public Accountant.
